Avengers II: Age Of Ultron Extended Trailer: Main Points

The extended trailer has a section in the beginning where the Avengers are partying and bit drunk. Stark makes it his personal challenge to lift Thor’s hammer, Mjölnir. Thor says that any that can lift his hammer are worthy to rule Asgard. Stark tries to lift the hammer with his human hand then with his Iron Man hand. He even enlists the assistance of Colonel James Rhodes/War Machine. He even uses his War Machine hand. But the hammer won’t budge. Then Captain America tries his arm but is unable to lift it but the hammer moves a little. When this occurs Thor’s face turns a little scared but then turns back to normal. Then he stands up, picks up his hammer and throws it into the air and catches it by the handle. Then there is the following quote:

Tony Stark: “It’s biometrics, right? Like a security code? “Whoever is carrying Thor’s fingerprints” is, I think, the literal translation…

Thor: Yes, well that’s a very, very interesting theory. I have a simpler one: You are not worthy…

(Ultron Enters)

Ultron: Worthy? How could you be worthy? You’re all killers. You want to protect the world, but you don’t want it to change. There’s only one path to peace… your extinction.

There are three important events in the trailer. Firstly, the first look of The Twins. The Twins are Wanda & Pietro Maximoff. They are also known as Scarlett Witch & Quicksilver. Quicksilver is part of the X-Men and Avengers in the comic books hence FOX using him in X-Men: Days Of Future Past and Bryan Singer saying that he will be in X-Men: Apocalypse. He was played by Evan Peters (American Horror Story) In Avengers II he will be portrayed by Aaron Johnson (Kick Ass). Scarlet Witch will be played by Elizabeth Olsen (Godzilla).

X-Men comic book fans will also know that The Twins are the children of Erik Lehnsherr/Magneto. Quicksilver’s special ability is super speed. He is Marvel’s reply to DC’s The Flash. Quicksilver’s first comic book appearance was in 1964 whereas The Flash first appeared in 1961. The powers of the Scarlet Witch are: chaos magic, probability manipulation and reality warping. Judging from the trailer it seems that at the beginning of the movie they are Ultron’s henchmen, to do his bidding. This can be compared to Avengers Assemble where Hawkeye was much the same to Loki.

Furthermore, there is the physical confict between Stark and Thor with Thor having his hand at Stark’s throat and fighting in the streets between Iron Man (in Hulkbuster Armour) against Bruce Banner/Hulk. This seems to be replicating what Loki did in the previous movie. Loki manipulated Banner into turning into Hulk and then there was the brawl between Thor & Hulk in the helicarrier. Ultron is doing the same. He is pitting the Avengers against one another. They are too busy fighting each other to fight him.

The introduction of The Twins was needed. The previous Avengers, all have manmade powers. Even Banner being the Hulk was due to laboratory accident. Hawkeye & Black Widow are trained assassins. The famous Budapest mission that Romanoff talks of is S.H.I.E.L.D sending an operative to kill her. That operative was Clint Barton/Hawkeye. She was being disruptive and a nuisance. Instead of killing her, they recruited her. She is pretty badass after all. Tony Stark made his suits and Thor is a Norse God from another realm, Asgard. Thor is the only one with true powers that he was born with. He has super strength and can control lightning due to being the Asgardian God Of Thunder. Through Mjolnir he can dimesnion jump, manipualte the weather and electricty (like in Avengers Assemble when he zaps many Chitauri with lightning as they are coming through the portal). Quicksilver & Scarlett Witch have actual powers that they were born with so they can relate with Thor on this level.

The second important part of the trailer is Andy Serkis. He is only in it for one shot and is easily forgettable if you weren’t paying complete attention. I believe he to play Black Panther, villain Ulysses Klaw which takes me into the third important point from the trailer which is Captain America’s broken shield. Vibranium is the metal that his shield is constructed of but also has ties to Wakanda. Wakanda is the native homeland of T’Challa/Black Panther. His suit is made of Vibranium. Klaw is a physicist and a Black Panther villain and has epic understanding of the metal and its properties. By Klaw having great understanding of Vibranium,Furthermore, in the trailer there is also a few seconds of Ultron’s hand with some sort substance on it. I believe he is coating himself in Vibranium so he can make himself invulnerable. I assume that he is the one to destroy the shield. Plus, the first filming location was South Africa which I’m making a positive assumption is that of Wakanda. I’m hoping for a cameo from Chadwick Boseman as T’Challa. I don’t think he will be Black Panther. I think Ultron will kill his father T’Chaka in the movie and then he sees that he must take up his father’s mantle. Enter Black Panther and the renowned post credits sequence we may see Chadwick Boseman as Black Panther.
