Tyrion Targaryen

The hypothesis is that Tyrion Lannister is not the son of Tywin & Joanna Lannister but is a bastard son of Mad King Aerys Targaryen and Joanna Lannister. Aerys liked the look of Joanna so he had his way with her. Or did he have his way with her? Maybe she wanted to be with Aerys?

Tyrion is quick-witted, humorous, and highly intelligent yet shows a slap to little bitches like Joffery. He is always in danger of death. The first being in A Game Of Thrones when he and a Nights Watchman are in a tavern when they meet Catelyn Stark. He accuses him of pushing her son, Bran from a window in which he was made a cripple. The tavern is filled with Tully bannermen. Tyrion is standing with all the bannermen pointing their swords at him with no chance of escape. He’s nearly killed by a Kingsguard at the Battle Of Blackwater, ambushed by tribesman at the Vale Of Arryn, loses his trial by combat in Kings Landing and he nearly drowns when he is knocked overboard in the company of Jon Connington. This happens in A Dance With Dragons.

Joanna Lannister was a companion of Aerys’ sister Rhaella Targaryen.

Tyrion: “Were you aware that our mothers knew each other of old?”

Oberyn: ”They had been court girls together as girls, I seem to recall. Companions to Princess Rhaella?”

A Storm Of Swords

Aerys had intentions for Joanna

Daenerys: “Was there some woman (Aerys) loved better than his queen?

Barristan: Not…not loved. Mayhaps wanted is a better word…Prince Aerys…as a youth, he was taken with Joanna. When she and Tywin wed, your father drank too much wine at the wedding feast and was heard to say it was a great pity that the lord’s right to the first night had been abolished. A drunken jape, no more than Tywin Lannister was not a man to forget such words, or the liberties your father took during the bedding”

A Dance With Dragons

Joffery says to Sansa that Kings can have any woman they please. So this brings the question that Aerys not only wanted Joanna but he may have bedded her too. So Aerys may have been Tyrion’s father. Joanna would have been in Kings Landing at the time of Tyrion’s conception. Tywin was Hand Of The King so she would have been but apparently she was at Casterly Rock shortly before Tyrion’s birth. If Aerys was Tyrion’s father, Tywin may not have known. Tywin was oblivious to Jaime and Cersei’s doins and he was oblivious to the fact that the Joffery, Tommen and Myrcella are Lannister bastards made by Jaime and Cersei.

But then there is the argument that he did know. He says on numerous occasions that:

“You…are no…son of mine”

Tywin, A Storm Of Swords

He treats Tyrion with such hatred but then treats Jaime a lot better despite his choice to go into the Kings Guard. Jaime cannot inherit but Tyrion can. That angers Tywin to no end. He has no heir. He is embarrassed that Tyrion is a dwarf. He thinks Tyrion is making a mockery of the house he has built from a ridiculed house (due to Tytos’ doings) to a house that is feared. All Tyrion does is drink and whore around. Plus Cersei and Tywin blame Tyrion for killing Joanna in childbirth. Tywin disallowed Tyrion from travelling the Free Cities when he turned a man at sixteen. Instead, he was given the drains and cisterns of Casterly Rock to maintain.

His precious legacy is a pile of ash. How can he trust ‘The Imp’ to further his legacy when he is gone?

“Men’s laws give you the right to bear my name and display my colors, since I cannot prove that you are not mine”

Tywin Lannister On Tyrion

At sixteen, Tyrion fell in love with a prostitute named Tysha. Tywin had her raped by members of his household guard. Tywin’s first love was Joanna and when she died his legacy replaced her. He is obsessed with it. Aerys made Jaime part of his Kings Guard making Tyrion the heir to Casterly Rock. This is a giant slap in the face for Tywin. I believe that Aerys only did this because he couldn’t have Joanna.

A common Targaryen trait is dragon dreams. Daenerys and Maester Aemon have had dragon dreams.

“When she slept that night, she dreamt the dragon dream again”

Daenerys: A Game Of Thrones

“I see them in my dreams…I see their shadows on the snow, hear the crack of leathern wings, feel their hot breath. My brothers dreamed of dragons too”

Aemon to Sam A Feast For Crows

Tyrion also has dragon dreams.

“Tyrion had a morbid fascination of dragons…I used to dream of having a dragon…and stare at the flames for hours pretending they were dragon fire”

Tyrion, A Game Of Thrones

These aren’t visual dreams. It’s merely an interest. I like to play chess. Tyrion likes dragons. But this next piece of evidence starts making me ask questions. Tyrion has one green eye and one black eye.

Appearance:

“One green eye and one black one peered out from under a lank fall of hair so blonde it seemed white”

Jon I, A Game Of Thrones

“Hair, pale blonde and black”

Tyrion X, A Dance With Dragons

Lannisters are described to have golden blonde hair whereas Tyrion is described as having ‘like white’ hair. Targaryen hair is described as pale, silver-blonde. Tyrion has mismatched eyes much like Shiera Seastar whom was a bastard of Aegon IV Targaryen. Tyrion’s dwarfism could be the product of bad genetics from Targaryen’s history of incest. If he is a Targaryen bastard he can fit into the fan theory of ‘The Three Heads Of The Dragon’. In my view the three heads of the dragon are Tyrion (or Bran), Jon and Daenerys. Plus each of these characters (excluding Bran) have had their mother die in childbirth and have killed a loved one.

I only chose Bran because he is a very powerful warg. He could warg into one of Dany’s dragon. Plus when he reached the Blood Raven he says Youll never walk again, but you’ll fly” This could be referring to his warging ability.

In conclusion, Tyrion could be a Targaryen bastard but it seems unlikely.
